The 2nd Annual Blackbeard’s Pirate Jamboree, a weekend pirate festival for all ages, kicks off Friday, Oct. 31 to Sunday, Nov. 2, on Ocracoke, NC.

The centerpiece of the Jamboree is an historically accurate Pirate Encampment on Saturday, Nov. 1, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. by Blackbeard’s Pirate Crew, an 18-member living history organization from Hampton, VA., on the grounds of the historic Wahab House, 161 Irvin Garrish Highway in Ocracoke. Dressed in historical costumes from the 17th and early 18th centuries, pirates will engage the audience with storytelling, sea chanteys and swordplay. Visitors will see demonstrations of vintage black powder weapons and partake in hearty seafarers’ grub and grog.

The Main Event is the re-enactment of “The Battle at Ocracoke,” taking place on the island’s beautiful harbor, Silver Lake, with three historically-accurate ships that will re-create the last hours of Blackbeard and his crew as Lieutenant Maynard brings them to battle with cannons blazing.
Ocracoke Village will be bustling with activities for all ages, including a treasure hunt, historical presentations, roving bands of pirates, impromptu pirate skits and sing-alongs, as well as a “Scallywag School” for the kids. A “Brigand’s Bazaar” in Community Square will feature arts, crafts, pirate gear, and period clothing. Food and drink will also be available at many locations. Parking is available at the NPS Visitors lot at the south end of the island.

The Blackbeard's Crew Period Dinner for 2014

Going back to tradition the festivities will include an appropriate 18th-century menu, music and enjoyment for all who attend just like in the old days of the crew.

Private Event - This event is restricted to the members of the Hampton Blackbeard's Crew and their guest only.

We shall have our period dinner on SUNDAY, December 15, 2013 at Amanda's and Jesse’s "Ordinary" at 5 PM. For those crew members that are unfamiliar with the location you will need to e-mail or otherwise contact the Captain for information and directions to the location.

This year we are going back to tradition and our roots so each crew member should bring their own eating utensils, dinnerware and tankards.  There will be a limited number of such items available for guests. As normally expected each crew member should be dressed out in their 18th-century attire for the occasion.  Each member and associate is allowed to bring a spouse or significant other. It would be nice for guests attending to be in proper 18th-century attire but this will not be mandatory for the guest of the crew or guest of the crew members.
