Captain!
The members of the Blackbeard’s Crew are getting extremely excited about the 2017 Hampton Blackbeard Pirate Festival. We obtained the title of having the third best pirate gathering on the planet even beating the Cayman Islands event but we will not rest until we gain first place. I’m proud to say that we are already in first place when it comes to having the best piratical family reunion anywhere.
This year’s lineup of fireworks, entertainment, living history, cannons and sea battles will be second to none. We are planning on having many new friends joining us along with many of our old friends. This includes visiting pirate crews as well as historic vendors in the encampment. There will be new entertainment and some of everyone’s favorite entertainers from past years. Our Festival committee members have been working overtime selecting the best of the best.
I think everyone will get excited when they see the changes being contemplated for the Friday night’s Pirates Grand Ball. Do Pirates actually like and attend Grand Ball’s? The answer is many of them. But many more prefer a rather high-class Pirates Grand BASH! So this year in lieu of having a Grand Ball we will be having A Pirates Grand Bash. We will retain some of the niceties and aspects that people enjoy but we will definitely be changing up a few things.
The way to a Pirates heart is with a dagger or cutlass. But since we are all family and friends the way to a Pirates heart shall be with good food, good drink and fabulous entertainment at the Pirates Grand Bash. We are working on a much improved menu and really changing up things. This year’s entertainment at the Pirates Grand Bash will be spectacular. I hope to release the entertainment lineup as soon as the firm commitments are obtained, the ink is dry on the contracts, the travel and lodging arrangements have been made. I think once the entertainment lineup is announced the Bash tickets will sell out quickly. My hope is that I am able to announce the entertainment lineup prior to the ticket sales going online.
We have already started receiving many inquiries for participation from living history groups, entertainment groups and period vendors and we’re going to try to squeeze as many people in as possible. For the convenience of all those wishing to participate, sell your wares in the encampment or be part of the entertainment a single e-mail address has been established for proposal submissions and/or participation inquiries.
